Social Value
DICT8 has taken steps to maximise the social value of its products and services.
Climate Change and Net Zero
DICT8 is an ISO14001:2015 accredited organisation.
DICT8 takes fighting climate change very seriously and it is at the core of our environmental policy, we are committed to Net Zero 2045.
All aspects of the DICT8 service have already been digitised and the adoption of the DICT8 system can be a key step for Trusts and practices seeking to reduce their carbon footprint. It is further worth noting that the cloud based distribution model that is at the core of the DICT8 system results in not only fewer journeys and resources required for installation (ie none!) but also enables remote working, which reduces commuting impact. You can view and download a copy of our carbon reduction plan.
We do:
Integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts into all of our decision making and activities
Fight climate change wherever we can
Promote environmental awareness among our employees and encourage them to work in an environmentally responsible manner, as well as educating and informing our employees about environmental issues that may affect their work.
Reduce waste through re-use and recycling and by purchasing recycled, recyclable or re-furbished products and materials where these alternatives are available, economical and suitable.
Seek to reduce our Scope 2 carbon usage through the procurement of energy from renewable sources.
Avoid unnecessary use of hazardous materials and products, seek substitutions when feasible, and take all reasonable steps to protect human health and the environment when such materials must be used, stored and disposed of
Purchase and use environmentally responsible products accordingly, where required by legislation or where significant health, safety or environmental hazards exist
Develop and maintain appropriate emergency and spill response programmes
Strive to continually improve our environmental performance and minimise the social impact and damage of activities by periodically reviewing our environmental policy in light of our current and planned future activities.
Engage with our supply chain on environmental matters seeking to encourage them to reduce their environmental harm.

Where we do work with suppliers we look to work with ones that are ethical.
We have an investors in people policy that has been adopted at board level. This is regularly consulted
We pay staff significantly above the London living wage and have undertaken to continue to do so.
The DICT8 model is such that medical secretaries around the UK are all paid at the same rate, reducing regional income disparities.
The DICT8 transcribers model enables people from economically disadvantaged communities to participate fully in the transcription ecosystem with full equality with all other members.
Diversity
DICT8 is an inclusive organisation where everyone is treated with respect and dignity, and where there is equal opportunity for all. DICT8 respects and values the diversity of its staff and users. This means that all DICT8’s staff and users should understand and respect that there is a diverse work force and user community and that everyone has the right to be treated with dignity and equality. This includes the legal and ethical requirement for DICT8 to provide services and conditions of employment that are appropriate to the needs of a diverse society.
Valuing diversity means that we recognise that we all have complex identities made up of many strands. These can include, but are not limited to, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, physical and metal aptitudes, nationality, socio-economic status, and religious, political or other beliefs. This means we embrace and celebrate our differences in a positive environment, and are committed to engage with the needs of our diverse staff and users to enable us, both individually and corporately, to achieve our aims.
DICT8 will tackle barriers to participation and create a culture in which equal opportunities and equal treatment are a priority for all staff, suppliers and customers. In the recruitment, training, pay and management of staff, and in all our day-to-day work with colleagues, suppliers and customers, we seek to create an environment where attitudes and biases that hinder the progress of individuals and groups are dismantled and where we work together in mutual respect and tolerance. It is the responsibility of all managers from directors and departmental heads to junior supervisors to ensure that the standards established within this policy are adhered to within their own area of responsibility ; to familiarise themselves with the procedures in all Equal Opportunities documentation; ensure that they are not instructing employees to act in a discriminatory manner; ensure they are not putting pressure on employees to discriminate; bring the details of the policy and procedure documents to the attention of all staff; and ensure that information on equal opportunities is incorporated in all induction processes for new or temporary staff and is supported by ongoing training Staff Responsibilities.
It is the responsibility of employees at all levels to co-operate with any measures introduced to ensure equality of opportunity; report any discriminatory acts or practices; not induce or attempt to induce others to practice unlawful discrimination; not victimise anyone as a result of them having reported or provided evidence of discrimination; and not harass, abuse, bully or intimidate others.
We have significant minority representation at board level and there is majority minority ownership at board level.
We have significant BAME representation within the workforce (36%). Over 50% of the workforce define as female.
The DICT8 transcribers model is one where all people are treated with respect and diverse communities are all treated equally and justly.
